Occupational Physiotherapy
BHR cover all areas of occupational physiotherapy.
WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Occupational Physiotherapy is simply the provision of physiotherapy services in the workplace. Physiotherapists have worked in industry for many years. The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health was founded as far back as 1947 (then called the Association of Physiotherapists in Industry.) It makes sense to provide physiotherapy at work since the majority of workers suffering from musculoskeletal disorders continue to work despite their pain and dysfunction. It is quite likely that someone who is suffering from a musculoskeletal disorder will have their problem affected by work and /or have their work affected by their problem. This may affect working capacity and thus productivity, whether mental or physical.
Occupational Physiotherapists are predominantly concerned with the clinical management of musculoskeletal disorders and other neurological and medical conditions at work. However, they may also become involved in the following areas:
The Occupational Physiotherapy Services we offer are tailor made for the client. Companies differ in size and in the resources available to them for this type of service. We can provide a range of levels of service. Large companies may require a full time service by more than one physiotherapist.
Medium sized companies may only require a part time service and smaller companies perhaps only an occasional service. The service can include any of the functions outlined in "What is Occupational Physiotherapy?" and will be adopted to suit the administrative systems already in place within a company.
